What it measures
Six dimensions rather than five. HEXACO adds honesty-humility, covering sincerity, fairness and modesty, which the Big Five spreads across its other scales. Sixty questions is the standard length for this model.
Your score is read against adults generally. The bands below come from the shape of a normal distribution, which is the model the scoring assumes rather than a count from a reference sample. Most people sit in the middle and both ends are rare by definition, so a band is a position in a distribution, not a verdict.
Good uses
- A full six-dimension profile in about twenty minutes.
- Seeing where you sit relative to adults generally.
- Comparing honesty-humility against your Big Five result.
Known limits
- It records how you see yourself, not how you behave. The two come apart whenever you have a reason to look good.
- Scores describe tendencies across many situations, not what you will do in any single one of them.
- It cannot tell you which job, course or partner to choose.
